My worldview and commitment to product inclusion have been profoundly shaped by my lifelong disability, queer identity, and multicultural upbringing.

Community-based research with Latinx teens with cancer

At the D.C. Children’s Hospital, where I was a bilingual psychology research intern, I conducted community-based research with Spanish-Speaking teens living with cancer in order to adapt a palliative care intervention for culturally competent efficacy.

 

Building Paid Events at Duolingo from scratch

By leading strategic, early-stage research, I co-built a global live-language-learning marketplace from the ground up. Duolingo Events empower Hosts around the world to earn a living by helping language learners build confidence & speaking skills

 

Supporting teacher & student needs during the pandemic

Over the course of the Covid pandemic, I conducted research with K-12 Foreign Language & English Language Learner (ELL) teachers to inform a major redesign of Duolingo for Schools, a product that empowers teachers to digitally engage their students in personalized learning catered to each students’ specific needs and learning pace.
